Microgaming have just made a very interesting move indeed, by doing something that has not been done by an online gaming company before. They have taken one of their most popular online slot games, of the kind that you might see at Casino Titan or any of the sites which use Microgaming software, and then they have turned it into a bingo game in order to tap in to another market entirely. Immortal Romance, which is based loosely around the kind of Twilight theme in order to appeal to the demographic who loved the movies and books, is now available as a bingo game under the inventive title of Immortal Romance Bingo.
The game is set for launch with operators this month, and it offers four differently themed bingo elements, each of them led by the characters from the slot game – Amber, Troy, Sarah, and Michael. This is a new community gaming concept, according to Microgaming, and it is very much based around the slot which was launched in December 2011. As well as the standard line prizes which bingo players are used to, there will also be a revolutionary new feature in the form of the jackpot wheel, which is known here as the Chamber of Wins. During the game play, you will collect medallion numbers in order to charge a power bar which will then unlock the Chamber, and when it has been unlocked there will be four different jackpot prizes up for grabs. These could include cash prizes, as well as free spins to be spent on the Immortal Romance slot machine game itself. “We are constantly striving to deliver innovative, unique software developments that focus on frequent and differentiated player rewards, to ensure that our operators can stand out from the crowd,” said David Reynolds, head of bingo at Microgaming. “Immortal Romance Bingo does exactly this, and we are very proud of what we have created. We believe we have developed a truly unique game experience that fully embraces and pays homage to our Immortal Romance brand that has already proved appealing with the Bingo demographic. This is a real game-changer and industry first concept, and we’re very excited about this launch.”
It is very clear that Microgaming really think that they are on to something here, and they could well be right. The same kind of demographic who might go for the slot game are those who might be playing bingo as well, and so now they may find that they are able to convert slot players into bingo fans as well as bingo fans into slot players. It will also help to strengthen the identity of the brand, providing something which people can really relate to rather than simply another one shot game which is not linked to anything else. Time will tell how successful this concept is, but in the meantime we simply have to applaud the seemingly endless ability which Microgaming have to come up with something new and unexpected.
