Those who were hoping to enjoy the new Ivey League training area of the Ivey Poker site may have had to return and spend a bit more time at Rushmore Casino after the launch date, as the site apparently run into difficulties as soon as it was launched because the servers were overwhelmed by a huge swell of players who had been eagerly waiting to get access to the site. In many ways this is of course a fantastic result for the site and everything that it offers, but it was disappointing for some people who were waiting to get involved, as it meant that they were unable to access the features which they had been waiting to see.
It was back in 2012 that the nine time World Series of Poker bracelet winner will Ivey announced that he would be launching the poker training website in order to teach more people to play poker properly, and it has been two years in the making, so this small delay really was nothing compared to the wait which has already been undertaken by those who were keen to try it out. After the site went down unexpectedly, Phil Ivey took to his twitter account to explain that “You guys love the new site so much that we’ve exceeded our bandwidth. Please stay with us as we work to resolve some technical issues.” Seven hours later the problem had still not been resolved, so Ivey was forced to take to twitter again in order to remind people that they were still looking into it, saying, “Things should be back to normal on the Ivey League site. Busted servers are no fun but we appreciate the love!” Finally, it was able to go live, after the repairs were done and everything seemed to go smoothly.
Phil Ivey is widely considered to be the best all-round poker player who is still alive today, and so if you are going to learn from anybody he is perhaps the best choice. In order to create his site he specifically hand-picked a number of top professional players from tournaments and cash games in order to serve as the coaches, who would be providing training to the players and the three different option packages which would take players from beginner to advanced. When he discussed the idea of the site back in 2012, the thirty-seven-year-old professional said, “I feel like there’s a big hole in the poker community. I speak with people all the time about poker, and people say they’d love to learn how to play but they don’t know where to start. It’d be nice to teach people how to play the correct way.” Since then he has spent his time recruiting some of the most talented players in the game to fill out his team of coaches, with many of the professional players now representing the site including Greg Merson, Andrew Lichtenberger, Patrik Antonius, Cole South, and Jennifer Harman.
