Shawn Buchanan, who is known online by the name buck21, has recently made history by becoming the first player of all time to win a triple crown in the PokerStars COOP events (comprised of the TCOOP, SCOOP, and WCOOP), after taking first place in one event out of all three. If you are a player at the Slotsplus Casino who does not take much interest in online poker than this may all seem like gobbledygook to you, but for those who follow the world of online poker this is certainly a huge achievement for the player which he will be able to brag about for a long time to come.
He finally managed to get the triple title after winning the thirty-third event in the current TCOOP, the eighty-two dollar razz game, which gave him a total winning part of $14,714. There were dozens of other online players who are attempting to accomplish this feat during the current event, but Buchanan was the one who managed to cross the finish line first, which means that his name is the one which will be put into the history books. For those who are still feeling a bit confused about what it all means, allow us to simplify things a little by letting you know that the COOP part stands for Championship of Online Poker, with his first win out of this trilogy coming in 2007 when he won a World Championship of Online Poker title in a $530 pot limit Omaha event which brought him the total win of $97,262. It was five years later when he finally managed to get his second step on the road, a $2,100 razz win during the Spring Championship of Online Poker which won him $44,145. He has in fact completed this step twice, also winning another Spring title last year when he took down the $2100 no limit heads up ten Max shootout for $118,800.
Not only does this put him ahead of all his rivals who were going for the same kind of achievement, and give him something that can never be taken away from him, but it also puts him one step closer to an even greater achievement. He could now become the first player to earn the PokerStars Grand Slam before too long, so long as he takes a victory in the Sunday Million, which would give him all four titles in a row. His victory now puts him in third place in the 2014 TCOOP leaderboard standings with 180 points, and if he manages to win more than he could be with a chance of getting that title as well, which will offer him a Champions Trophy as well as a 2015 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure package which is worth $16,500. There are still fifteen events remaining in the championship, so it could be done – though the current leader, CMoosepower, at 220 points, will have something to say about that, as will second placed jonaj10 with 190 points.
